Ornament care
Made to last for years.
Every piece is mouth-blown and hand-painted in our workshop in Bellagio. With a little care, it stays beautiful Christmas after Christmas.
When it arrives.
Every piece travels wrapped in paper, inside protective packaging. Open it calmly, on a table with something soft underneath.
- Open the parcel from the top, without pushing the blade in deep.
- Lift the ornament out by its body, not by the cap.
- Remove the paper gently, without pulling: the glass is thin and delicate.
- Keep the box and paper: you'll need them after the holidays.
What if something arrived broken?
It rarely happens, but we'll take care of it.
If you hang it.
Blown glass is light, but it needs the right branch.
- Choose a sturdy branch, close to the trunk rather than at the tip.
- Make sure the hook is securely closed through the cap's loop.
- Keep it away from hot bulbs, fireplaces and radiators.
- With children or pets at home, hang it high up on the tree.
The cap.
The cap simply sits in the neck of the ornament, held by its two prongs, so it can sometimes slip out.
- Gently squeeze the two prongs of the hook together.
- Slide it straight into the neck, without forcing.
- Push it all the way in, until it rests on the glass.
- Lift the ornament gently to test it before hanging.
With a light touch.
Paint and glitter are applied by hand: they need very little to stay clean.
- Dust it with a soft, dry cloth or a brush.
- Clear, unpainted glass can be wiped with a barely damp cloth.
- No water on paint or glitter.
- No detergents, alcohol or sprays.
After the holidays.
The most delicate moment is when the tree comes down.
- Wrap each piece in its own paper, one at a time.
- Put it back in its original box, without squeezing it.
- Store it somewhere dry, away from damp and heat: no damp cellars or hot attics.
- Don't stack heavy boxes on top of the ornament boxes.
Frequently asked questions
In short.
Can I keep it out all year round?
Yes, as a decoration at home, as long as it's kept away from direct sunlight, damp and heat sources.
Does the color fade in the sun?
Many hours of direct sunlight can lighten the colors over time. Indirect light is best.
Can I hang it outdoors?
No: our ornaments are made for indoor use. Rain, frost and sun would damage them.
Can tree lights damage it?
LED lights don't get hot and are perfectly fine. With old incandescent bulbs, keep the ornament a few centimeters away.
Can I wash it?
No, never under water: a soft, dry cloth is all it needs.
Handmade in Bellagio
Why every piece is different.
Every ornament is mouth-blown and hand-painted by our artisans, one at a time. Small differences in shape, color or brushstroke are not flaws: they show it was made by hand, and that yours is one of a kind.
