Our history
Tradition and innovation to create unique and quality products
Bellagio Glass Ornaments, under the guidance of Iris Negrini, represents the natural evolution of the historic Mortelmans.
Founded in 1979, Mortelmans earned a prominent position in the industry. Later, through the passion of Fausto Gilardoni, master glassmaker and craftsman, his talent and attention to detail kept the tradition alive, attracting prestigious international clients.
Today, with the help of his niece Vanna Bazzoni, the company carries on this precious artisanal legacy, preserving with dedication and skill a craft that dates back to the 1970s and continues to enchant with its authenticity and timeless beauty.
We can therefore say that this new small production activity is the natural continuation of the pre-existing company which has always kept the manual processing systems unaltered.
These characteristics allow us to still produce glass articles, completely handcrafted, whose peculiar characteristic is actually their uniqueness.
The blowing
The first phase of the production process concerns glass blowing: it starts from a borosilicate glass tube of different diameter and thickness depending on the type of article to be produced, by means of some simple machines (the only ones used during the working process) we proceed to separate this tube into pieces of different length with which we proceed to the first blowing process.
Our artists, using particular flames, heat the tube in the right points and for the correct time and proceed to the creation of objects of different types that can go from the sphere to every possible and imaginable shape.
The processing
Once the blowing process is complete, you can proceed with the processing: according to how the finished product should be, the object must be silvered to make it shiny like a mirror and the color in the base color which can be shiny or opaque.
At the end of this treatment, the product passes into the hands of the decorators, who using the appropriate colors create the final design on the surface of the object.
The last part of the process consists in the possible addition of small accessories and in the packaging.
The packaging is done taking care of the type of box and the packaging material in order to protect the item during shipment.
